Balloon Enteroscopy

Balloon Enteroscopy

The ordinary endoscope and colonoscope only reaches so far into the intestine. It does not traverse the entire digestive tract. With the balloon enteroscope, I can get between 1 to 3 meters further into the small intestine. Typical indication for balloon enteroscopy would be to follow a capsule endoscopy or to treat recurrent iron deficiency anaemia when an endoscopy and colonoscopy failed to identify a cause of bleeding or anaemia
